There are three things I have to constantly remind myself of:
This applies to my studio, kids, husband, family, house, ect. When what I have doesn't seem like enough I need to remember that people out there would kill to have what I have. Right now I have an amazing husband who loves me more than I think I deserve sometimes, 2 beautiful kids and a roof over our head. It might not be a mansion, we might have bills, I may not have the fanciest clothes or a nicely decorated house. I do have a family that loves me and a predictable income that allows us family time and security knowing that even if there is nothing left, our bills are paid each month and plenty of food on our table.
Aside from family and housing, I have more than some photographers could dream of which is an actual studio and a steady client base that loves my work. I might not be rich, I don't get to travel the world shooting in exotic locations but I do get to capture some pretty amazing moments in my own town/state/area.
Starting out in this journey as a professional photographer, I could only imagine being where I am today. Some days I look at others in my industry and think that they are doing what I should be doing and then have to put myself in check realizing that I am doing what I should be doing as well and nothing happens over night, everything happens in steps.
You are enough, I am enough, what I have is more than enough. Some days I really need to remind myself of this and not take what I do have for granted.
Running a business on your own can be hard & lonely but it is so much fun and worth the flexible schedule. If you are a photographer and are struggling with the same type of issues, feel free to reach out, I love connecting and making friends in the industry. It helps so much to have someone going through what you are and having a sounding board for ideas.
