About a year ago, I was working at my other job (Signs Now as a part-time graphic designer/sign production) and got a call for a banner for a fundraising event. The group was called Friends of Mazie and was a support group created for a little girl fighting for her life against leukemia. I was directed to their facebook page to look at images for the banner they needed.
Maybe it was pregnancy hormones.... or the fact that the adorable face online was the same age & not much different looking than my older daughter, but I immediately wanted to do what I could do to help Mazie out and had to keep myself from crying at work about it. I started with getting my boss to donate a banner for her events. Fast forward a year later and I had the idea to do a Mini-Session Fundraising event. Mazie was the first thing that popped into my head.
Here are 3 ways you can help out during the event:
1. MINI-SESSIONS - On Saturday December 1st from 11am-6pm I will be scheduling Holiday themed mini-sessions. Packages start at $150 and half of the amount paid will go to Mazie. There will be 10 time slots available. To book your time slot, session must be scheduled and paid for ahead of time.
2. SCHEDULE A FUTURE SESSION- book a session for a later date and half of your session fee will be donated to Mazie. Session fees start at $100. Must be booked by Sun 12/2.
3. PURCHASE A GIFT CERTIFICATE- Need an idea for a Christmas present for a loved one? Purchase a gift certificate and half of the amount will go towards Mazie. Must be purchased by Sun 12/2.
4. DONATE - directly to Mazie by taking check or cash to: Bank of the West -1045 George Washington Way - Richland, WA 99354 - Account: Crazy for Mazie

So shortly after I posted my last blog which included wanting to photograph and Indian wedding, I received a call from another photographer to cover a birthday party for her. When I showed up I learned it was an Indian First Birthday party and man did they go all out. It was pretty much a wedding reception, not the typical birthday party that I photograph but it was soo much fun, especially the dancing. The food was pretty good too but a little too spicy for me even though everything I picked was said to not be spicy....I am a wuss, what can I say?
Here are some of my favorite photos from the day:
Isn't this the most beautiful family you have ever seen? I forgot to mention the clothes at the party as well. They were amazing and so colorful.
No cake smash at the party, the birthday girl didn't even want a taste of it. She was very into dancing though. In the photo below where she is pointing her finger, she danced like that the whole time. It was really cute.
Hopefully now that my photography bucket list is out there, I will continue to get to at least half mark-off (and eventually fully) the items on it.
