It is always so nice once the warm weather hits and the sun is out late enough to capture a session at sunset again! I had a blast photographing Alex & Corey, I can't wait until their wedding this summer. I have a feeling we are going to end up with some beautiful wedding images. Congrats you two!

Recently I had the amazing opportunity to attend a live taping of a CreativeLive class on Sales & Pricing by the amazing Julia Kelleher. I applied to go on a whim just by browsing their website. I was ecstatic that I was going to be able to attend and be part of the studio audience. It was a life changing 3 days and I am so glad that I was able to make it work out.
What is CreativeLive you ask? If you are a photographer head to their site right now and check it out. I mean right now! Some genius thought up the idea to create an online environment and live feed classes for photographers on every subject you can think of. I can pretty much attribute the growing success of my business to watching their classes. If you can't watch online, you can purchase them for about $99 and get to rewatch them anytime. CreativeLive is based out of Seattle which is perfect for traveling from the Tri-cities. I could go on forever but that is a whole different blog post.
At the live taping I went to, I was given a whole list of things that I needed to do to market and present my business.
The current one I am working on is niching. Which is to find what you love and become the expert in that area. As of this moment, I am an specializing in Beauty, Bridal & Baby Photography. According to what I learned that is probably not fully claiming a niche but I love my Baby Steps program that I had to fit it in somewhere.
What does this mean for the studio? From now on any marketing pieces I do will reflect those three categories of photography. Anything you see online will only be those. That doesn't mean I won't still photograph families, seniors, commercial, etc but I will be selective about what I take on and focus all of my energy on what I love and you won't see those as much. I think Facebook is going to be the hardest to narrow down. I love all of the images I have on there and so many people are tagged in the ones I have up. I can do it though!
If you start seeing changes, this is why along with everything else I will be implementing from the course.
I finally finished images up from Baby Oswald's completely impromptu session at his house while I was in town visiting. The lighting was a borrowed one and the background was a paper roll that dad had laying around from his photographer days. I think they turned out great for an unplanned session in the livingroom. Helps that I had such a cute subject. This little guy is so loved by everyone he knows.
You might recognize Mom & Dad from a few other sessions. Congrats on the new addition!
